Nestled in the lush slopes of the Western Ghats, Matheran is a scenic hill station but a challenging terrain for its permanent residents. To bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility, we joined hands with Saifee Hospital to conduct a comprehensive 3-day multispecialty medical camp.
The initiative brought top-tier medical expertise from Mumbai directly to the doorsteps of the local community, providing specialized screenings, diagnoses, and treatments to approximately 1,000 residents free of cost.

The Challenge: Why This Matters
While popular with tourists, Matheran is home to around 5,500 permanent residents living in scattered hamlets. The region faces distinct healthcare hurdles:
- Geographical Isolation: The hill station is an eco-sensitive zone with limited transport, making travel to the nearest medical hubs (Karjat or Pune) difficult and time-consuming.
- Aging Population: A significant portion of the local population is elderly, suffering from age-related ailments that require specialized care often unavailable at local municipal clinics.
- Infrastructure Gaps: While basic facilities exist, there is a critical lack of advanced diagnostics and specialist doctors for conditions like cardiac issues, arthritis, and vision impairment.
